On April 27, 2024, at 11:11 p.m., Mesquite Police Officers responded to a shooting incident at the 900 block of Gross Rd. in Mesquite. Upon arrival, officers discovered one individual, identified as 36-year-old Christopher Sye, with a gunshot wound. Sye was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The other party involved remained at the scene, claiming self-defense, and is cooperating with investigators.
