The Crockett Police Department is currently investigating a crash that occurred at the intersection of State Loop 304 and North 6th Street (FM 2022) yesterday, April 24, 2024.
According to preliminary findings, at approximately 3:54 p.m., a 2005 Jeep SUV traveling east on State Loop 304 collided with a 2014 Ford pickup heading south on North 6th Street. The Ford failed to yield the right of way to the Jeep at the intersection, resulting in a collision on the Jeep's left side. The impact caused the Jeep to lose control and roll over, ejecting both the driver and passenger.
Tragically, the passenger of the Jeep, identified as a 43-year-old female from Crockett, succumbed to her injuries. She was transported by EMS and air ambulance to a Conroe area hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Jeep sustained suspected minor injuries but declined hospitalization.
The driver of the Ford, a 59-year-old female also from Crockett, declined treatment at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
