On April 22, 2024, in the Athens area of Henderson County, K-9 Deputy Edwin Rodriguez and Deputy Jude Bonner made significant arrests while on patrol. They encountered Kenneth Vess on Emma Street and Blake Street, where Vess was seen attempting to conceal items. Upon investigation, a glass pipe and a container with suspected methamphetamine were discovered. Vess was promptly arrested and taken to Henderson County Jail.
Meanwhile, Narcotics Investigators Jonathan Daille and Jonathan Barrios were executing a warrant service at the Budget Inn for wanted fugitive Kevin Wade Tate. During their operation, Tate was spotted as a passenger in a gray minivan. Upon seeing the investigators, Tate attempted to discard evidence, but both he and the driver, Terrance Louis George, were apprehended. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered more suspected methamphetamine.
Tate and George were both transported to Henderson County Jail. Tate faced charges of possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence, in addition to his existing warrants. George was booked for active warrants from the Athens Police Department.
