On Wednesday, April 24th, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) intervened in response to a pro-Palestinian protest at the University of Texas (UT) in Austin. Acting on the request of the University and under the direction of Governor Gregg Abbott, DPS aimed to prevent any unlawful assembly and assist UT Police in maintaining peace.
With a focus on curtailing criminal activities, including trespassing, DPS, in collaboration with UT Police, conducted operations on campus. While specific operational details were not disclosed, DPS affirmed its readiness to adapt strategies to ensure public safety and support law enforcement efforts.
During the intervention, law enforcement officers made more than 20 arrests on the UT campus.
