Anfernee Durham, 25, from Lufkin, was arrested by the Lufkin Police Department on Tuesday, April 24, 2024, on a charge of capital murder related to the October 2023 death of his 4-month-old son, Kylo Powell.
Kylo passed away in a Houston hospital on October 20 after being moved from a Lufkin hospital three days earlier.
A Harris County medical examiner determined Kylo’s death to be a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head and torso.
Following an investigation into Kylo’s death, detectives obtained a warrant for Durham’s arrest upon the completion of his autopsy.
Durham was apprehended without incident at a residence in the 300 block of Rainwood Drive in Lufkin, with assistance from the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office.
Durham remains in the Angelina County Jail on a $1 million bond.
