Texas Walmart Bust: Fugitive Couple Apprehended in Marshall Theft Spree

Nicholas Eberle and Bridgette Eleanor Peyton

Police in Marshall, Texas, had a busy Friday evening when they responded to a shoplifting incident at Walmart involving a male and female. The female, identified as 32-year-old Bridgette Eleanor Peyton of Burlington, Wisconsin, was detained after attempting to steal over $1,500 worth of merchandise. As officers dealt with this incident, they were alerted to a fight in the parking lot.

The altercation turned out to involve a vehicle owner and 41-year-old Nicholas Eberle, who was allegedly attempting to break into several cars. A brief foot chase followed, resulting in Mr. Eberle's apprehension by officers.

Both Eberle and Peyton were discovered to be fugitives from Wisconsin, reportedly linked to a series of thefts across multiple states.

"Dubbed a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde, these two learned quickly that Texas doesn't take kindly to thieves. "Don’t Mess with Texas" isn't just a slogan—it's a way of life, especially when it comes to protecting our property.", said the Marshall Police Department in a statement.

Authorities extend their gratitude to the community members who reported the incidents and to the officers who responded promptly.
