Harts Bluff ISD in Titus County Proposes $19.1 Million Bond for Facility Expansions

In Titus County, the Harts Bluff Independent School District is gearing up for a significant decision come May. The district has announced that five bond propositions, totaling $19.1 million, will be up for a vote to finance various facility expansions.

If all propositions pass, the school district estimates that the total tax impact will amount to 40 cents. Here's a breakdown of what each proposition entails:

  • Proposition A: A $6.6 million investment aimed at the high school, featuring the addition of nine classrooms, two science labs, a computer lab, a media center, and counseling offices.
  • Proposition B: An expansion project targeting dining areas, both indoors and outdoors, along with additional kitchen space, totaling $1.4 million.
  • Proposition C: Allocation of $6 million towards the construction of a game court, additional gymnasium seating, and locker room facilities.
  • Proposition D: A $1.1 million initiative to incorporate a dedicated choir room into the fine arts department.
  • Proposition E: An investment of $4 million to introduce seven new classrooms and administrative space to the Little Red School House.

For homeowners within the district, the financial implications are significant. Should all propositions pass, a homeowner with a property valued at $332,024 can expect an additional monthly payment of $77.34.

Voting on these propositions will take place from April 22 to April 30 during early voting, with the final decision day set for May 4, Election Day. Only registered voters within the Harts Bluff ISD boundaries will have the opportunity to cast their ballots.

This move follows a $18 million bond passed by the school district in 2023, aimed at enhancing safety measures and expanding facilities.
