On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 11:38 pm, the Terrell Police Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting incident at 901 S. Catherine Street in Terrell. The caller, identified as 69-year-old Wendell Lancaster, claimed to have shot a female suspect who allegedly stole his wallet.
Terrell Police Officers responded to the scene and found 40-year-old Breanna Mendosa with gunshot wounds. Medical assistance was provided by CareFlite, but unfortunately, Mendosa succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Forney.
The Criminal Investigations Division took charge of the case and processed the scene. During questioning by detectives, Wendell Lancaster admitted to the shooting, leading to his arrest and subsequent charge of Murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
