On April 4, 2024, a joint operation involving the Gregg County Organized Drug Enforcement Unit (CODE), Longview Police Special Investigation Apprehension (SIA) Unit, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF), and the US Marshals Service culminated in a significant drug-related arrest at the Knights Inn, situated at 3103 Estes Parkway in Longview.
The US Marshals Service apprehended Derek Elam, who was wanted on an active warrant. Subsequently, the CODE unit secured a search warrant for the premises. During the search, law enforcement officials uncovered a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics.
The seized contraband included 108 grams of methamphetamine, 43 grams of Xanax, 8 grams of cocaine, 2 grams of hydrocodone, 7 grams of ecstasy, 7 grams of marijuana, and 422 grams of counterfeit Adderall, suspected to contain methamphetamine.
