Fatal Accident in Nacogdoches: Man Killed While Mowing Grass

Nacogdoches Police rushed to the 100 block of N.E. Stallings Dr. on Monday around 5:13 p.m. following reports of a major accident. A passenger vehicle veered off the road, striking an adult male. The man was declared dead at the scene by the Justice of the Peace.

The driver of the vehicle sustained what appears to be minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Authorities confirm the driver is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle was traveling northbound when, when for reasons unknown at this time, left the roadway, fatally striking the victim who was mowing grass at the time.

The Nacogdoches Police Department's Investigations Division has stepped in to aid in the inquiry and gather evidence. In the aftermath of the incident, the affected stretch of road was closed on Tuesday for several hours to complete the investigation.

The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Tyrone Rausaw from Nacogdoches, Texas.
