The sentencing phase for Braylon Diamente Hicks, who was found guilty of a shooting death in Edgewood, concluded on Friday. Hicks, from Forney, was sentenced by a jury to life in prison. He will not be eligible for parole until serving 30 years.
Hicks was arrested on October 26, 2022, in Van Zandt County Jail on charges including murder, endangering a child, and evading arrest after a high-speed chase in Edgewood. He was accused of the murder of Alyssa Beth Flores from Wills Point, who was found shot to death in the 400 block of Downs Street before the chase.
Hicks pleaded guilty to the murder charge.
