Longview Man Attempts to Smuggle Drugs into Jail After Arrest

On Monday, April 1, 2024, a Harrison County Deputy conducted a routine traffic stop on a Blue Hyundai passenger car for failing to signal a turn in time near Lancing Switch onto FM 968. Upon identification, all three occupants in the vehicle were identified. Among them, 42-year-old Kristopher Michael Catron from Longview was found to have warrants for his arrest out of Gregg County for Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon and Felon in Possession of Firearm.

During the stop, authorities discovered Catron to be in possession of illicit substances, including a clear bag of methamphetamine weighing 1.1 grams, a clear bag of Alprazolam pills comprising 7 pieces at 1.7 grams, and a meth pipe. Additionally, a clear bag containing 3.7 grams of marijuana was found.

Following his arrest and subsequent booking into the facility, further contraband was discovered on Catron's person by jail staff. Consequently, he now faces charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (PCS PG1) weighing between 1 to 4 grams, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 (PCS PG3) weighing less than 28 grams, and possessing prohibited substances within a correctional facility.
