Longview Police Respond to Threat Against Pine Tree Middle School

On March 31, 2024, Longview Police Officers acted swiftly upon receiving information about a potential threat directed towards Pine Tree Middle School via a social media platform. The report prompted immediate investigation by both officers and detectives, ultimately confirming the validity of the threat.

Subsequently, law enforcement apprehended the student responsible for the felony offense of "Terroristic Threat," off school premises without any incident. The individual was transported to the Gregg County Juvenile Detention Center. School officials were promptly informed of the situation.

In light of this incident, the Longview Police Department urges parents and guardians to engage in discussions with their children regarding the importance of school safety. The department stresses that any statements indicating violence towards school campuses, whether made in person or online, will be treated with utmost seriousness and investigated thoroughly.
