Fire at Bluffview Senior Village in Crandall Contained, Residents Safe

On the evening of Friday, March 29, 2024, the Crandall Fire Department responded to a call for a smoke investigation at Bluffview Senior Village at approximately 7:40 pm. As units from Crandall Fire Department rushed to the scene, Kaufman County Fire Dispatch informed them of an active fire and multiple calls regarding the incident. Mutual aid was swiftly requested from the Seagoville Fire Department and Medical Jets ambulance service, with the Kaufman County Fire Marshall's Office also dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, Crandall Fire units found a three-story apartment building with no visible signs of fire from the outside. Entry was made into the building, and on the second floor, light smoke was encountered. Crews eventually reached the fire room, where smoke and sprinkler activation were present. A thorough search of all floors and units was initiated.

After confirming the fire was extinguished, Crandall and Seagoville Fire units ventilated the smoke from the fire room and second floor and cleared all units of residents. Medical Jets ambulance service attended to residents, with no major injuries reported and no need for hospital transport. The American Red Cross was notified and provided shelter and supplies for displaced residents.

The incident was resolved by all units and personnel shortly after 11:00 pm. While smoke damage was contained to one apartment, multiple floors and units sustained water damage due to sprinkler activation. The Kaufman County Fire Marshall's Office is collaborating with property management to determine a return date for residents to the property.
