On March 23, 2024, Wood County Deputies responded to reports of shots fired on County Road 2153 in Quitman, Texas. According to the victim, her boyfriend became agitated and threatened her before firing multiple shots into the ground in the direction of another relative. Upon arrival, deputies encountered resistance from the suspect, identified as Catan Runyan of Quitman.
Runyan was subsequently arrested and faces charges including assault on a public servant, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and deadly conduct. He is currently being held on bonds totaling $110,000.
