High-Speed Pursuit Ends Peacefully in Marshall, Texas

A routine traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase on Sunday, March 27th, when the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) attempted to pull over a motor vehicle on FM 31 in Marshall, Texas.

The vehicle in question led law enforcement officers on a southbound chase along FM 31, then onto FM 2199, before making a daring turn back northbound, crossing US 80. The pursuit concluded north of US 80 at the railroad tracks on FM 2199.

As the vehicle attempted to navigate down the side of the railroad tracks, it became disabled, bringing the chase to a halt. Despite commands from troopers to exit the vehicle, the driver refused to comply.

In response, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called to the scene to assist troopers. ERT operators successfully persuaded the driver to exit the vehicle peacefully.

The driver was subsequently taken into custody without further incident. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the driver or the reason for the initial traffic stop.
