Harrison County Deputy Subdues Suspect After Reckless Pursuit

Robert Joseph Haller Jr.

A Harrison County Deputy observed a vehicle on Highway 59 in Marshall with an equipment violation on March 26, 2024. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the vehicle turned into the Walmart parking lot. However, the suspect behind the wheel refused to halt and drove recklessly through the parking lot, narrowly avoiding a collision with another vehicle and running over traffic cones.

The suspect persisted through the parking lot onto Poplar Street, fleeing westward. Despite a short pursuit, which included navigating loops around a nearby school, the suspect eventually came to a stop in the school's parking lot. Upon exiting the vehicle, the suspect engaged in a heated argument with the Deputy and refused to comply with commands.

Subsequently, the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Robert Joseph Haller Jr. of Marshall, was subdued using a Taser and taken into custody. He was then transported to the Harrison County Main Jail. Haller faces charges including Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, No Driver's License, Defective Equipment, and Terroristic Threat Against a Public Servant.
