Suspected Dynamite Discovered in East Texas Property, ATF Renders Safe

On March 24, 2024, authorities from the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office were called to investigate potential explosive devices found at a recently vacated property on Farm to Market Road 95 South in Mount Enterprise, Texas. Members of the Patrol Shift B and the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene. Upon obtaining a search warrant, officers discovered three suspected sticks of dynamite inside a storage building on the property.

In response to the discovery, the area was secured, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) was notified. A Special Agent from the ATF arrived at the scene, confirmed the material as dynamite, safely rendered it inert, and destroyed it on-site.

The investigation is ongoing, with the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division conducting follow-up inquiries to determine the origin of the dynamite. The search warrant was issued by Rusk County Court at Law Judge Chad Dean. Assistance at the scene was provided by the Mount Enterprise Fire Department.
