On Saturday, March 23, 2024, Paris Police officers intervened when a vehicle was reported for driving without lights and swerving into oncoming traffic in the 4400 block of SE Loop 286. The driver, identified as Yowan Ramsaroop Singh, aged 46, exhibited signs of severe intoxication, struggling to maintain balance when standing. Upon inspection of the vehicle, officers discovered four young children inside. Singh claimed to be en route to Arlington but couldn't recall his recent whereabouts.
Subsequently, Singh was taken into custody and charged with DWI with a Child in the vehicle, a felony offense. The children were safely handed over to a family member following the arrest.
