Texarkana Officer Attacked by Two Pit Bull Mix Dogs, Suffers Severe Injuries

In a distressing incident earlier this evening, the Texarkana Police Department responded to a call reporting a woman being attacked by dogs in the 700 block of Wilson Street.

Officer Chris Flores, upon arriving at the scene, was confronted by two large pit bull mix dogs charging towards him. Despite his efforts to deter them, the dogs overwhelmed him, knocking him to the ground and viciously attacking him.

Officer Matthew Lindsey arrived shortly thereafter and intervened, using a fire extinguisher to halt the attack. Concerned for Officer Flores' safety, Officer Jose Chavez transported him to the hospital in his patrol unit.

As officers dealt with the situation, one of the dogs charged at the Animal Control Officer, necessitating the use of lethal force to subdue it. The second dog was captured without further incident.

Officer Flores sustained severe injuries to both arms, including muscle damage and numerous lacerations. Currently undergoing surgery, his condition remains critical.
