Man Faces Murder Charge Following Victim's Death in Longview Shooting

On March 22, 2024, at 3:40 a.m., Longview Police Officers rushed to respond to a shooting at the EZ Mart convenience store, situated at 700 Gilmer Rd. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, with severe injuries. He was promptly taken to a nearby hospital by private vehicle.

Subsequent investigation by detectives pinpointed 20-year-old Tykiron Mumphrey of Gladewater as the prime suspect. Longview Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Mumphrey, charging him with Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury. Mumphrey has since been apprehended and taken into custody.

On March 22, 2024, Longview Police said that the victim succumbed to his injuries, prompting authorities to elevate charges against Mumphrey from Aggravated Assault to Murder.
