Fugitive Wanted for Houston Drive-By Shooting Arrested in Lamar County

Authorities in Lamar County successfully apprehended a fugitive wanted for a drive-by shooting in Houston. On Monday, detectives from the Houston Police Department alerted the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and Criminal Investigation Division about the whereabouts of 24-year-old Luis Rios, who was believed to be in Lamar County.

Following leads provided by Paris Detectives, law enforcement agencies including the Houston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Special Crimes Unit, and the U.S. Marshals worked together to locate Rios in the western part of Lamar County on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Rios was arrested without any further incident.

Upon his arrest, Lamar County Investigators booked Rios into the Lamar County Jail on charges related to the Houston shooting, including Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Aggravated Assault on a Security Officer, Aggravated Assault Causes Serious Bodily Injury, and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

As Rios awaits extradition back to Houston, no bond has been set for him. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office praised the collaborative efforts of all agencies involved in bringing the fugitive to justice.
