Harrison County Deputies responded to a report of a runaway on FM 450. The complainant, a parent, informed authorities that her daughter, whom she had permitted to attend a funeral in Tatum, TX, did not return home as expected. It was revealed that the daughter, along with a friend named Kolton Zane McPherson, 18, of Hallsville, had plans to run away to Corpus Christi.
Upon investigation, deputies discovered that Kolton and the daughter had been hiding at Kolton's boyfriend's house. When alerted by the daughter's friend, Kolton and the daughter fled the residence to avoid law enforcement. Deputies then made contact with Kolton's grandmother, 69-year-old Bonnie Hassell Dollahite, who disclosed that Kolton and the daughter had gone to Walmart. Bonnie admitted to being aware that the daughter was a minor and that she did not have permission to be at the residence but failed to notify law enforcement.
Subsequently, Kolton's brother informed deputies that Kolton was hiding at their deer lease nearby. Deputies located both Kolton and the daughter at the deer lease. Kolton and Bonnie were taken into custody for harboring a runaway, and the daughter was safely returned to her parents.
