Dr. Joy Wilson has been named the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools for Bonham ISD after the March 20, 2024, meeting of the Bonham ISD Board of Trustees. Following a state-required 21-day waiting period, Dr. Wilson will assume the role, succeeding current Superintendent Kelly Trompler upon her retirement.
Dr. Wilson expressed delight in returning to Bonham ISD, where she started her education by attending Kindergarten at Stephenson School. Her mother, a Bonham High School graduate from the Class of 1969, is thrilled to see her daughter serve as the next superintendent at her alma mater.
Bringing extensive knowledge and experience in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Teacher Development, and Bilingual Instruction, Dr. Wilson is set to begin her transition into the role. She will work alongside Mrs. Trompler for a transition period starting in late April, officially taking charge on July 1, 2024.
"We are excited to welcome Dr. Wilson to Bonham ISD," said Chance Roberts, President of Bonham ISD Board of Trustees. "After an extensive search, the Bonham ISD Board of Trustees believes Dr. Wilson offers the District a wealth of knowledge in education including classroom teaching, campus leadership and central office experience. Her data-driven mindset, emphasis on transformational leadership and intent on keeping Bonham ISD traditions and family-like atmosphere alive make her the perfect candidate to succeed Mrs. Trompler as Bonham ISD Superintendent."
