Hopkins County Deputies Arrest Tyler Man on Drug Charges

Richie Mason Lopez

On Friday evening, just before 8:00 pm, deputies from Hopkins County made a routine traffic stop, which led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Tyler man on various drug-related charges.

The driver, identified as Richie Mason Lopez, was pulled over due to defective tail lamps and a missing license plate light. Lopez consented to a search of his Mitsubishi passenger vehicle, during which deputies uncovered a kit used to fake urine for drug tests.

Further investigation revealed that Lopez was currently out on bond and subject to random urine analysis. Additionally, deputies found more than one round of ammunition, violating the conditions of his bond.

Inside the vehicle, deputies also discovered a prescription pill bottle containing a total of four pills. Although one pill matched the correct prescription and was broken in half, two were identified as Adderall, a controlled substance, and one as Bupropion Hydrochloride, a prescription drug. Lopez claimed to have a prescription for all the pills but was unable to present it at the time.

As a result, Richie Mason Lopez was booked into the Hopkins County Detentions Center on charges including possession of a controlled substance, possession of a false drug test falsification device, and possession of a dangerous drug.
