On the night of March 14, 2024, a DPS trooper responded to an accident at the 10000 block of Highway TX-154 in Marshall, in front of Fugler's Grocery & Market. While taking the report, the trooper encountered difficulty with one of the drivers involved, identified as 23-year-old Anthony Dean Stonewalter of Longview, who appeared to be intoxicated.
The trooper attempted to take Stonewalter, who caused the accident, into custody but faced resistance. Backup was requested, and a Harrison County Sheriff Deputy promptly arrived at the scene. A brief struggle ensued, but both officers managed to subdue Stonewalter and place him under arrest.
Stonewalter now faces charges of DWI, Interference with Public Duties, and Resisting Arrest.
