19-year-old Tyler Man Sentenced 20 Years for Aggravated Robbery

Nicholas Hudson

Nicholas Hudson, a 19-year-old from Malakoff, was sentenced to 20 years in prison last month after pleading guilty to two charges of aggravated robbery in connection to a fatal shooting at a Tyler apartment complex in March 2023.

Hudson was arrested following an incident at the Royal Crest Apartments, where a gun trade had been arranged. According to his arrest warrant, Hudson met with another man at the apartments. He claimed to have arrived with two associates who intended to rob the man trading them an AR-15 assault rifle for a Springfield XD 9mm pistol and $400 cash.

During the exchange, a dispute arose when Hudson's associates refused to release the cash. The situation escalated, resulting in the man attempting to take the cash and firing shots. In response, the man took the pistol and shot both of Hudson's associates, who were later found dead in a car by the police. Hudson confessed to his involvement in the incident at the scene.

Initially charged with murder, Hudson was indicted for two counts of aggravated robbery in June 2023. On February 1, he pleaded guilty and was subsequently sentenced to 20 years in prison for both charges, to be served concurrently.
