Man Arrested for Shooting 3-Year-Old at Tyler Apartment Complex

A 3-year-old child was injured in a shooting incident at a Tyler apartment complex, leading to the arrest of 30-year-old Darius Jubarne Davis on Wednesday morning. According to Tyler Police Department, the incident occurred just after 10 a.m. at the Liberty Arms Apartments on 2601 N. Broadway Ave.  

Davis faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, manufacture of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. The child, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was later transported to Dallas Children's Hospital.  The report is that the child was shot in the buttocks.

Davis was apprehended by police officers on 26th Street, located across from the apartment complex. It's reported that Davis and the child's mother are acquainted, although the motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this time.

Currently, Davis is being held at the Smith County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
