On Friday, March 8, 2024, authorities initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle reported stolen from Houston, Texas, sparking a high-speed chase involving multiple agencies. The pursuit led through Loop 116, where the driver, desperate to evade capture, drove through a gate and into a pasture before abandoning the moving vehicle and fleeing into nearby woods.
In response, law enforcement agencies, including the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, mobilized search efforts. Tracking dogs from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice were deployed to aid in the hunt for the fleeing suspect, who remained at large overnight.
On Saturday afternoon, a tip led authorities to the vicinity of Moscow, prompting a concentrated search operation. Units from various agencies converged on the area, supported by plain-clothed officers conducting a meticulous search. The suspect, identified as Brian Joseph Brown of Point Blank, Texas, was apprehended without resistance in a wooded area near the Valero.
Brown, who was found to have warrants from multiple jurisdictions, including Harris and Liberty Counties, faced a litany of charges, including burglary, possession of methamphetamine, and unauthorized use of motor vehicles. Livingston Police Department additionally filed charges of evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle against Brown.
