On Friday afternoon, March 8th, at 3:35, a Paris ISD Resource Officer (SRO) sought assistance in the 600 block of South Collegiate Drive, near Crockett Intermediate School.
Responding officers discovered a traffic obstruction as they arrived on the scene. A person using a motorized wheelchair had navigated onto the sidewalk in front of the school and halted in the exit driveway, obstructing vehicular passage. Despite requests, the individual refused to relocate, impeding the departure of vehicles from the premises.
The situation escalated when the individual assaulted the SRO, striking them in the head and causing damage to their lanyard by grabbing it. Law enforcement successfully managed to clear the blocked driveway, enabling the flow of traffic.
Although the individual's actions resulted in disruption and altercation, they were not immediately arrested due to their medical condition.
