On the night of March 9, 2024, a Harrison County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a driver along the IH-20 South Service Rd. in Waskom, Texas, due to an observed equipment violation. During the interaction, the Deputy noted the driver's nervous behavior and suspected something was amiss. Seeking to delve further, the Deputy obtained consent to search the vehicle.
Upon conducting the search, the Deputy uncovered a significant quantity of suspected narcotics, along with scales, baggies, and a firearm, indicating potential involvement in drug-related activities. The driver was identified as 42-year-old Tasha Nicole Simmons of Marshall.
Following the discovery, Simmons was taken into custody and transported to the Harrison County Main Jail. She was subsequently booked on charges including Manufacturing or Delivery of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (between 4 and 200 grams), Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2 (between 4 and 400 grams), Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 4 (less than 28 grams), Possession of Dangerous Drug, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
