In the early hours of March 10, 2024, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at United Rentals in Buffalo, TX, following reports of individuals attempting to steal property. Deputies, alongside an officer from the Buffalo Police Department, arrived at the scene to find three suspects fleeing in a motor vehicle. A high-speed pursuit ensued, spanning several towns including Jewett, Marquez, Centerville, Leona, and Madisonville.
The chase came to a halt in Madison County when a Trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety successfully deployed spike strips, forcing the suspects to stop. While two suspects were apprehended, one managed to escape on foot.
The authorities have identified the arrested individuals as Alonzo Servin and Jimmy Torres. Both were transported to the Leon County Jail and face multiple charges including evading arrest with a vehicle, engaging in organized criminal activity, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and burglary of a motor vehicle. Additionally, Servin faces a parole violation and Torres faces an auto theft warrant from the McAllen Police Department.
Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the remaining suspect.
