Earlier today, Lufkin Police officers were attempting to serve warrants on a suspect named Shaquille Wortham in the 400 block of Holland Drive. Wortham fled into a wooded area between Wood Avenue and East Lufkin Avenue.
Because of the proximity of Lufkin High School, which had early release today, school officials were notified. Officers monitored Loop 287 to ensure Wortham did not cross the highway and head toward the school.
Wortham is described as 31 years of age, 6 feet tall, 175 pounds, and was wearing a gray T-shirt and red basketball shorts at the time he evaded officers.
Anyone who sees him or has information on his location is asked to call the Department at 936-633-0356 or Crime Stoppers at 936-639-TIPS.
Wortham has two warrants for adjudication of guilt on original charges of robbery and burglary of a habitation.
He was last arrested in Angelina County in May of 2022 on an on-view charge of evading arrest and warrants for robbery, assault causing bodily injury/family violence, assault/family violence impeding breath, burglary of a habitation, unauthorized use of a vehicle, criminal mischief, and evading arrest with a previous conviction.
UPDATE - March 9, 2024: Shaquille Wortham was located and taken into custody last night following a brief foot pursuit.
