On March 4th, 2024, The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) successfully executed a search warrant, leading to the recovery of stolen items valued at over $1,000,000 in Cass County. The operation, a result of a collaborative effort among various agencies, including the Texas DPS Criminal Investigation Division, Texas Highway Patrol Division, Cass County Sheriff's Office, and Cass County District Attorney's Office, uncovered stolen equipment belonging to Graphic Packaging International (GPI).
Personnel from GPI played a crucial role in identifying and retrieving the stolen property from the location. According to GPI estimates, the value of the recovered items exceeded $1,000,000.
Subsequent to the recovery operation, authorities arrested William Joshua Thompson, aged 43, a resident of Atlanta, Texas. Thompson was taken into custody, booked at the Cass County Jail, and charged with multiple offenses including Possession of a Controlled substance 1<4G, Possession of a Controlled substance PG 3 <28G, and Theft of Property >= $300,000, categorized as a first-degree felony.
