Beaumont Postal Employee Sentenced to Federal Prison for Mail Theft

A Beaumont woman, Pamela Jo Rosas, aged 65, has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for stealing mail in the Eastern District of Texas. This announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs.

Rosas pleaded guilty to theft of mail by a postal employee before U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on March 4, 2024. The court heard that in April 2020, postal inspectors started receiving complaints about missing parcels containing valuable coins after being sent for delivery. Following surveillance, federal agents identified Rosas, a postal employee, as a suspect in the theft. She was observed handling packages suspiciously, and later found in possession of stolen mail parcels after her shift. Rosas confessed to stealing various items from the post office over the previous three to four years. Agents recovered numerous valuable coins and other stolen items from her apartment.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service-OIG, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell James handled the prosecution.
