The Leon County Sheriff’s Office has made significant progress in dismantling a copper theft ring that spanned multiple counties following a series of reported thefts.
On February 14, 2024, authorities received the first report of copper theft from the 4000 Block of FM 39 S in Jewett, Texas, 75846. This was followed by another report on February 27, 2024, from the same location. Additionally, the Freestone County Sheriff's Office received a similar report within their jurisdiction. The total worth of stolen copper and materials is estimated to be approximately $300,000.
Subsequent investigation efforts led to the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Limestone County on February 28, 2024. During the search, stolen copper was located and recovered on the property.
As a result of the investigation, several individuals were arrested and transported to the Leon County Jail to face charges. Samuel Lynn Barrow Jr and Cristian Barrow are facing charges of theft valued between $150,000 to $300,000 and engaging in organized criminal activity.
Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Nicholas Pierre Raoult, Kristy Michelle Raoult, and Raymond Hewett Hines on similar charges related to theft and organized criminal activity.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office and The Freestone County Sheriff’s Office for their collaboration and assistance throughout the investigation.
