On Friday, February 23, 2024, the Panola County Sheriff's Office aided the US Marshals in executing an arrest warrant at Lake Murvaul. Kevin Michael Bruce, a registered sex offender, was apprehended without resistance due to a federal parole violation.
The Sheriff's Office is tasked with supervising sex offenders in Panola County, excluding those residing in Carthage city. Their responsibilities encompass registering sex offenders, ensuring adherence to registration regulations, and pursuing appropriate charges through the District Attorney's office for any violations.
"Our Deputies and Investigators collaborate closely with various agencies, including the Panola County Community Supervision and Corrections Department, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Texas Department of Public Safety, US Probation, and the US Marshals Service," stated a release by the Sheriff's Office.
