At approximately 5:51 pm on February 22, 2024, the Emory Fire Department received a dispatch to the park pavilion regarding a deceased individual found in a car with a hazardous container. Responding to the scene were Emory Fire Engine 1 and Squad 1, accompanied by the Justice of the Peace and Emory PD. Alexander and North streets were closed off by Emory PD as a precaution.
Emory Fire contacted Fullers Towing and Recovery for Hazmat assistance. They proceeded to safely open the locked car door and mixed absorbent material with sand to neutralize the liquid contents of the hazardous container. Fullers Towing and Recovery arrived and took possession of the container for proper disposal.
