Paris Police Investigate Theft of Firearms in Separate Incidents

Paris Police Department received a report on Tuesday indicating gunfire at the Maxey Rifle Range located at 557 CR 32500. It was reported that an individual had left behind their Staccato 9mm handgun on a table at the range before leaving. Upon returning, the owner found the firearm missing. The police have classified the incident as theft, estimating the value of the handgun at around $6,000.

In a separate incident, a Paris Police officer responded to a report on Monday regarding a stolen firearm in the 3400 block of W. Houston. The owner suspects that someone who had been living in the residence for several months and recently moved out may be involved. The firearm was discovered in a location not easily accessible to strangers, further suggesting the involvement of the known suspect.

UPDATE:  The firearm reported missing from the Maxey Gun Club on Monday, February 19, was turned in to the department by the individuals who had located it at the location of the loss. The case is closed.
