Dameer Tibbs faced charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) following an incident investigated by the Mesquite Police Department. The defendant's actions unfolded after a night out at a concert held at the House of Blues.
A Mesquite Police Officer on duty noticed Tibbs driving recklessly on the highway, exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour and making erratic lane changes amidst traffic. Subsequently, a traffic stop was initiated. Following an interaction with the defendant, the officer proceeded with a DWI investigation, leading to Tibbs' arrest. A blood draw was performed, revealing a blood alcohol concentration of .112.
After deliberation, the jury returned a guilty verdict, taking approximately 10 minutes to reach their decision.
As a result, Tibbs was found GUILTY and handed a sentence of 180 days in jail, which was probated over 12 months. Additionally, a $500 fine was imposed along with standard DWI probation conditions.
