Winnsboro High School is mourning the loss of one of its own after an incident during a weekend fishing tournament. Kale Robinson, a junior at Winnsboro High School and a member of the Winnsboro Fishing Team, passed away after attending a tournament at Lake Cypress Springs on Saturday, where he was competing.

According to school officials, Robinson collapsed during the weigh-in portion of the tournament and was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he did not survive.

The Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA), which hosted the tournament, expressed their condolences in a statement, highlighting Robinson's passion for fishing and his involvement with their organization for three years.

"We find some solace in knowing that Kale was surrounded by friends and family, doing what he loved, and even catching his personal best," the statement read. "We are just so deeply sorry for the loss of this incredible young man who had a bright future ahead of him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him."

Winnsboro ISD officials announced that support services would be available for students affected by Robinson's passing. Local church youth pastors and school counselors will be on hand to offer assistance and guidance to students as they cope with the loss.

"As a community, we are mourning this loss, and we will come together not only as a school but as a community to support each other during this incredibly challenging time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of our beloved student.", said the Winnsboro ISD in a statement.
