Bonham Arrest: Suspect Nabbed for Theft and Fraudulent Activities in Paris

On Friday, February 16th, Paris Police officers apprehended 40-year-old Christopher Michael Gauchat in Bonham, based on an outstanding warrant for Theft over $2,500.00 but less than $30,000.

Gauchat was sought after an incident on February 9th when he entered an antique store in the 4300 block of Lamar Avenue in Paris and bought several antique toys with a check from a closed account. This wasn't an isolated event, as he had committed a similar crime within the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office Jurisdiction. Moreover, Gauchat provided a false ID number during the transaction.

Further investigations revealed that Gauchat had been writing stolen checks across various businesses in the Northeast Texas area.

Gauchat was also arrested and charged with Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information. Gauchat was arraigned in Fannin County and subsequently placed in the Lamar County Jail.
