Paris Police responded to a disturbance involving multiple individuals on Tuesday night, February 13th, at 8:02 pm in the 1300 block of Bonham St. As officers worked to secure the scene, an intoxicated individual, later identified as Ervin Dewayne Barry, 43, approached an officer closely, recording with a cell phone. Meanwhile, another individual involved in the disturbance, Marquavious Dejantre Williams, 26, attempted to leave the apartment where the officers were investigating. When an officer intervened, Williams pushed the officer through a doorway and fled on foot. Additional officers pursued Williams, while the initial officer returned to the scene and detained Barry, who had moved outside the apartment.
Barry, refusing to provide his name, was identified through recovered identification. It was discovered that Barry had an outstanding Parole Warrant from the Texas Department of Pardons and Parole. He was arrested for Public Intoxication, Failure to ID as a fugitive from justice, and the Parole Warrant, and placed in a patrol unit.
Williams was captured in the 1300 block of Bonham, where officers also discovered he had outstanding warrants from Lamar County for multiple charges, as well as a Parole Warrant for Burglary of Habitation. He was charged with these warrants, in addition to on-view Assault of a Peace Officer and Evading Arrest, habitual.
