Paris Police Officers responded to a disturbance report on Friday, February 9, 2024, in the 100 block of 17th St NE.
Upon arrival, they encountered 18-year-old Kayla Nicole Clavier. During questioning, an officer observed a man attempting to evade them by running into the residence. The individual was apprehended and identified as 24-year-old Devonte Demond Williams.
Following investigations and statements from both parties, Officers arrested Williams and Clavier for engaging in a physical altercation. Notably, Clavier had a prior conviction for Assault, prompting authorities to escalate her charge to a Felony due to the recurrence of a similar offense. Clavier's bond was set at $3,500, while Williams' bond stood at $2,000.
Records show Williams had previously been arrested four times in 2023 in Lamar County for offenses including burglaries, theft, drug possession, and evading arrest.
