On Friday, February 9, 2024, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jude Bonner spotted a vehicle traveling on Valleyview Drive in Gun Barrel City with defective equipment. Deputy Bonner pulled over the vehicle, which was being driven by 34-year-old Edwin Lee Walker Jr of Mabank, Texas. Inside the vehicle, 50-year-old Odie Nash Mcgibboney of Gun Barrel City was a passenger. Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigator Jonathan Daille arrived to assist Deputy Bonner.
During the stop, it was discovered that Walker had an outstanding arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance dating back to a 2017 arrest. Investigator Daille noticed suspected methamphetamine in a nearby ditch. Further investigation revealed that the methamphetamine originated from within the vehicle occupied by Walker and Mcgibboney.
As a result, Walker was arrested for the outstanding warrant, as well as for manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. Mcgibboney was also arrested for manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. Both individuals were taken to the Henderson County Jail to await arraignment.
