Camp County Authorities Apprehend Suspect in Vehicle Theft and Firearm Incident

Danielle Katelynne Reynolds

Danielle Katelynne Reynolds, 28, found herself in custody on February 7, 2024, after the Camp County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a stolen vehicle on FM 1520. Reynolds was subsequently charged with Theft of Property amounting to between $2,500 and $30,000, as well as Theft of a Firearm.

According to Camp County Sheriff John Cortelyou, the incident unfolded when Deputy Brandon Morris was dispatched to gather information from the victim following the report of the stolen vehicle. Simultaneously, a description of the stolen vehicle was circulated to all officers on duty.

"Deputy Morris was informed that Reynolds and the victim had engaged in an argument. Subsequently, Reynolds seized a handgun from the vehicle before driving off," Sheriff Cortelyou stated.

Pittsburg Police Department Officer Joshua Franz provided crucial information when he notified dispatch that he was trailing the vehicle on FM 1520, just north of Loop 179.

"Due to a flat rear tire, Reynolds abandoned the vehicle on FM 1520 and fled the scene on foot," Sheriff Cortelyou explained. "She was later discovered near the roadway, concealed behind a wooden fence, in possession of a handgun along with two magazines."

Following her apprehension, Reynolds was transported to the Camp County Jail and booked on charges of Theft of Property and Theft of a Firearm by the Camp County Sheriff's Department. Pittsburg Police Department levied additional charges of Resisting Arrest Search or Transport and Evading Arrest Detention against her. Reynolds's bond was subsequently set at $27,000.
