In Lamar County, a jury has found 47-year-old Donald Wayne McDowell guilty of robbing and shooting a man in the face in January 2023. The victim endured a ten-day hospital stay following the incident.
During the trial's punishment phase, the jury was informed of McDowell's extensive criminal record, which included convictions for escape, burglaries, assault, indecent exposure, and indecency with a child. As a result, McDowell was handed a life sentence in prison, with a requirement to serve a minimum of 30 years before being considered for parole.
