On February 1, 2024, Alvin Charles McKnight Jr., 41, of Gilmer, was indicted for capital murder of multiple persons in the 115th District Court.
McKnight remains in the Upshur County Jail on a $5 million bond. He was apprehended on November 15, 2023, in California after evading authorities for nearly two weeks following the shooting deaths of Dermetrica Waters, 37, and Mandy Ray, 35, both of Gilmer, at an Upshur County residence on November 4.
McKnight had been listed on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List by the DPS before his capture.
