Paris Police Investigate Felony Forgery Involving Fake Check at Local Business

Paris Police are investigating a felony forgery incident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon at around 2:37 PM. The incident took place when a 40-year-old white male entered a business located in the 2200 block of NE Loop 286. The individual presented a prefilled check, claiming it belonged to his mother and stating that he intended to purchase parts for their company truck and new business. He provided a driver’s license matching his identity and left the premises with approximately $579 worth of auto parts.

However, the business later received notification from their bank that the check did not clear as the account could not be located. The check was reported to have been from an account that had been closed for over 15 years, according to the Check-Victim. Additionally, Fannin County authorities are investigating two separate cases involving checks believed to be from the same checkbook.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing.
