On Tuesday afternoon, February 6th, the Texarkana Police Department responded to a call reporting a vehicle crashing into the Ivan Smith Furniture store building located at 801 Walton Dr.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver, a 73-year-old individual, experienced a medical issue while driving across the Pavilion Parkway overpass that spans over the I-30 frontage road and N. Bishop Rd.
The vehicle struck the curb at a high rate of speed, became airborne, and traversed a culvert before finally halting in the parking lot of Ivan Smith Furniture. There was visible damage to the store front and the sidewalk leading up to the building.
The driver was transported to the hospital.
